Intuit has announced that after May 31, 2024, they will be discontinuing QuickBooks Desktop 2021 software. This includes all versions of 2021 QuickBooks Desktop Pro, QuickBooks Desktop Premier, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions v21. Other Intuit products will also be impacted.

After July 31, 2024, QuickBooks will no longer sell new subscriptions for QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus, and QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll. Existing subscribers can continue to renew their subscriptions after July 31, 2024, and will continue to receive security updates, product updates, and support. QuickBooks Enterprise products will not be impacted.

What Should You Do

If you are an existing QuickBooks Desktop 2021 subscriber, you will need to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop 2021 by May 31, 2024 – otherwise you won’t have access to live technical support. After May 31, discontinued versions of QuickBooks Desktop, including Payroll, Payments, and online bank feeds won’t receive the latest critical security patches and updates.

We recommend switching to QuickBooks Online for greater flexibility, collaboration, and real-time access to your data.

If you have questions about the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop 2021 products, leave a comment below, or feel free to contact me directly. I’m happy to help.
